The establishment year of Holy Cross Home Science College is 1975. The Holy Cross Home Science College is under the supervision of the Society of the Sisters of the Cross of Chavanod, Madurai Province. The Holy Cross Home Science College is affiliated with the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli. The Holy Cross Home Science College also has Grade B accreditation by the NAAC.
The Holy Cross Home Science College was started keeping in mind the dreams of the woman. The women of the area also have the right to technical education. To focus on the technical education of women, the Holy Cross Home Science College was established. Earlier, there is the Tamil Literature Society at the place of Holy Cross Home Science College. Then, the location was bought by the sisters in the year 1955 from the Tuticorin Diocesan Association. The Tuticorin Diocesan Association was illustrated by the Bishop of Tuticorin.

The Holy Cross Home Science College is located in Madurai Province and was founded in 1975.
- In 1955, the sisters founded the school focusing on technical education, the school trains the students in dressmaking, needlework, and embroidery work.
- The school also has a nursery school.
- In 1955, the first batch of girls was given the examination named Government Technical Exam.
- By the end of 1966, the school was recognized as the Home Science Academy. At that time, the school started the two-year diploma in Home Science. Sister Rita functioned as the Director at that time and Sister Audrey was the Assistant.
- The school has a focus on training girls so that the girls can easily manage their home life and become good citizens. The subjects in the diploma are Human Development, Textiles, Food and Nutrition, and Home Management. These subjects focus on the social development of the girls with the perspective of family. The girls understand human development, food and nutrition for the family, and the basic tricks to manage the home with skills.
- The school has seen the interest of married women in the diploma courses. A huge number of married women have taken the admissions to the Cookery Clourse and Needle Work course. All of the courses of the school were approved by the Tamil Nadu Government.
- The school sent the first batch in 1968 for the Government Exam in 1968. This course of the school exists until 1995.
- The University of Madras asked the school in 1973 to introduce the BSC degree course with a specialization in Home science. After this, the Acendmey was given the status of a college in the year 1975. The college got the affiliation from the Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, and started the first-degree course of BSC in Home Science. The first Principal of the college was Sister Elizabeth Rose.
- In 1990, the college the affiliated with the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli.
- The school has a nursery school within it. The benefit of nursery school is the students learn the behavioral patterns of the children, the psychology of the toddler, emotional changes, and social changes in the preschool time of students. The students encounter practical work in Human Development studies under the course of BSC Food Science & Nutrition.
- From 1978 to 2002, the Principal of the college was Doctor Sister Phyllis. Doctor Sister Phyllis started a new course for the PG Diploma in Nutrition, Food Service Management, and Dietetics which is NFSMD.
- From 2002 to 2010 Doctor Sister Mary Gilda was the principal of the college. Under her supervision, in 2003, the college started the new course of MSC Dietetics & Food Management along with the BCOM in Computer Application. Also, the course of BSC Fashion Design & Apparel Making was started. In 2007, the college introduced the new course of BSC Computer Science.
- Doctor Sister Mary Gilda focuses on the infrastructure of the college.
- In 2010 and 2012, the college introduced the BA in Infrastructure and MBA Courses. These courses were started as Satellite Programmes. These courses were guided by the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University.
- Sister Rubha was the next Principal of the college from 2010-2011. Doctor Sister Rosalie Joseph was the Principal in 2011.
- The Bachelor’s degree in English was presented in the year 2013 in college. Along with this, the college had other new courses named, BCOM and MCoM from 2014 to 2015.
- Now, from 2015 to 16, Doctor Sister Mary Gilda was the Principal and Secretary of the college.
- From 2016 to 2017, the new course of MA English was started in the college.
